Paige Bueckers named WNBA Rookie of the Month

In June, Bueckers’ scoring average (21.6 ppg) ranked third among all players and first among guards, while her steals clip (1.7 spg) ranked ninth.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Dallas Wings point guard Paige Bueckers was named June’s WNBA Rookie of the Month, the league announced Thursday.

It’s the first time Bueckers has won the honor and the first Dallas Wings player to be named Rookie of the Month since 2019, when Arike Ogunbowale also won in June and August that season, the team said in a press release. 

In June, Bueckers averaged 21.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.7 steals, 0.9 blocks, .475 shooting from the field and .929 from the free-throw line. Her scoring average ranked third among all players and first among guards, while her steals clip ranked ninth, team officials said. 

She was also the only player in the league to average at least 20 points and five assists in June.

Bueckers was recently named a WNBA All-Star starter, the only rookie in the bunch.

Other Dallas Wings Rookie of the Month winners include: 

  • Arike Ogunbowale (June, August 2019)
  • Allisha Gray (May, June 2017)
  • Odyssey Sims (July, August 2014)

This season, Bueckers leads all rookies in scoring (18.4), assists (5.8) and steals (1.85), while listing fourth in rebounds (4.4) and blocks (0.92).
