Bueckers was ruled out with a right knee injury, one day after scoring 27 points against the Indiana Fever in the American Airlines Center.
ARLINGTON, Texas — Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Washington Mystics due to a right knee injury, according to the team’s game status report.
The Wings are set to play the second half of a back-to-back after losing to the Indian Fever – sans Caitlin Clark – on Friday night in the American Airlines Center. Bueckers dropped a team-high 27 points and dished out six assists against the Fever.
The severity of Buckers’ right knee injury is unclear. A Wings spokesperson said coach Chris Koclanes would address Bueckers’ injury in his pregame press conference.
It will be the fifth game missed by the No. 1 pick in this year’s draft. Bueckers was sidelined three games while in the WNBA’s concussion protocol and then sat out because of illness the first game she was eligible to return.
In her 13 games played, Bueckers has averaged 18.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.8 steals.
Other Wings players ruled out include: Luisa Geiselsöder (National Team Obligation), Ty Harris (Left Knee), Teaira McCowan (National Team Obligation) and Maddy Siegrist (Right Knee).
DiJonai Carrington was ruled doubtful for Saturday’s game with a rib injury. Carrington did not play Friday night against the Fever.
The Wings have won three of their last five games, with one of those two losses coming against the Mystics last weekend.
Washington leads the all-time series between the two teams, 43-40. Tip-off between the Wings and Mystics is set for 7 p.m. CT on KFAA.
