The Adams County Sheriff’s Office said the child was found in the median on Pecos Street near U.S. 36 in a car seat.
ADAMS COUNTY, Colo. — A man and woman have been arrested after a baby was found in a car seat in the median of a busy street in Adams County Christmas morning.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) said someone called 911 around 9:20 a.m. after finding the approximately 1-month-old baby boy along Pecos Street just north of the junction with Highway 36. The child was only wearing a diaper, the sheriff’s office said.
The infant was taken to Children’s Hospital as a precaution, ACSO said.
Detectives walked the surrounding neighborhood looking for any surveillance or Ring doorbell camera footage, and talking to residents to see if they could find any leads, the sheriff’s office said.
Just before 3 p.m., the sheriff’s office tweeted out pictures of the car seat the baby was found in, in hopes of finding leads as to who the parents of the child are.

At around 4:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office said they were in contact with members of the baby’s family and are continuing their investigation.
The sheriff’s office announced the baby’s parents, 42-year-old Jarvis Sims, and 33-year-old Christina Thurman had been arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse. A final determination of charges will be up to the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
