Parktoberfest 2.0 keeps the San Antonio spirit alive despite brewery closures

Brackenridge Park Conservancy halts Parktoberfest until 2026, introducing Parktoberfest 2.0 with German music, food, and local brews on Sept. 28.

SAN ANTONIO — Brackenridge Park’s annual fall tradition is getting a new look this year.

Brackenridge Park Conservancy announced the original Parktoberfest is paused until 2026 after fewer breweries signed up amid recent closures. Unfortunately, many free community events like Parktoberfest have been impacted by this decline in the last few years, according to organizers.

To keep the spirit alive, organizers are now hosting Parktoberfest 2.0 on Sunday, Sept. 28, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at 202 Lamar Street in San Antonio.

The event will feature German music, food, root beer from Schilo’s, and beer from Alamo, Blue Star and Bexar Breweries. Admission and parking are free. Proceeds will benefit the Brackenridge Park Conservancy.

“While it is disappointing to pause, we remain committed to bringing Parktoberfest back stronger in 2026 with a refreshed concept that reflects today’s community interests and support,” the Conservancy said in a statement.
