Patio peppered by hail: ‘Hail no!,’ says Austin resident

SAN ANTONIO — It’s an unfortunate reality all Texans are aware of: the potential for hailstorms to cause problems and damage.

But it’s one thing to know about that and another thing to endure it. San Antonians found out for themselves when hail the size of golf balls and even grapefruits rained down Monday night. And those living in Austin experienced it the hard way, too.

The result: Social media was covered with the sights and sounds of hail battering Texas’ capital on Thursday.

The Windsor Park area of Austin saw hail that hit hard, including in the backyard of Kristen Harper.

Karol Kyno shared pictures of folks who had to shovel the frozen stuff off their streets, driveways and potholes too.

Debbie Barerra shot video from the Gravity ATX condos, where she lives on the fourth floor. She said “Hail no!” as it peppered her patio.

Pattie Farley was probably thinking, “Dude, where’s my grass?” as her front yard was iced.

And, in the Leander area, Casey Legg shared video of hail that poured into a pool.
