Patrick Mahomes, RG III inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame

Patrick Mahomes enters the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame, pledging support for Texas high school football teams with Adidas collaborations.

WACO, Texas — Patrick Mahomes was back in Texas on Saturday as he was officially inducted into the Texas High School Football Hall of Fame in Waco.

The Tyler-native was honored for his achievements at Whitehouse High School, where he tacked up 8,000 yards and over 90 touchdowns across his final two seasons with the Wildcats.

Mahomes’ impact on football has gone beyond high school since his time at Whitehouse. The quarterback’s resume includes three Super Bowl wins and MVPs and two regular season MVPs. Still, during the ceremony, he announced he’ll be giving back to Texas high school sports.

The Kansas City Chiefs QB announced he and Adidas will be signing 15 high schools to “Team Mahomes,” including Whitehouse. Those teams will get uniforms with Mahomes’ logo on them.

Copperas Cove alumnus and Heisman trophy winner, Robert Griffin III, was also inducted into the Hall of Fame.

During his time with the Bulldawgs, RGIII led Copperas Cove to two 4A state championship appearances in 2006 and 2007. He threw for 3,357 yards and 41 passing touchdowns. Griffin also rushed for 2,161 total yards and 32 rushing touchdowns.
