Pedestrian killed after hit by train while seated on the tracks, police say

Police say a pedestrian was killed after being struck by a train near South St. Mary’s Street late Saturday night.

SAN ANTONIO — A pedestrian was killed late Saturday night after being struck by a train near South St. Mary’s Street, according to police.

Officers were called to the intersection of South St. Mary’s and Lone Star around 10:58 p.m. for a major accident involving a train and a person on the tracks.

Police said the pedestrian was reportedly seated on the tracks and did not move after the train’s horn sounded.

The person was pronounced dead at the scene. The pedestrian has not been identified at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
