Pedestrian struck by hit and run driver just north of downtown, police say

SAN ANTONIO — A pedestrian was struck by a hit and run driver just north of downtown Sunday night, police say.

It happened around 9:49 p.m. in the 2500 block of Blanco Road near Hildebrand.

Responding SAPD officers found a 61-year-old man who had been trying to cross the street after doing some shopping at Family Dollar when he was struck by a driver in an SUV. That driver fled from the scene following the crash.

The victim was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. 

This is an ongoing investigation.
