‘Peeping Tom’ suspect arrested by police following investigation

Police say the suspect was reported using a cellphone with a “selfie stick” to try and film women inside their apartments.

SAN ANTONIO — A man who police suspect to be a reported “peeping Tom” was taken into custody by officers Saturday following a lengthy investigation.

Police say the suspect, Ricardo McCleary, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Avenue B near East Jones Avenue.

SAPD says reports have been made by residents in that area since 2023 of a “peeping tom” walking around apartment complex’s and trying to film female victims inside of their apartments. Police say he would use his cellphone camera with a “selfie stick” to film the ladies.

SAPD has received several similar reports throughout the years with similar details. 

Police began researching and investigating, and were able to eventually identify the suspect. Through a coordinated effort between the SAPD Human Exploitation Unit detectives and Prue SAFFE officers, an arrest warrant for Stalking was obtained for the suspect, identified as McCleary.

Detectives from the Human Exploitation Unit and Prue SAFFE officers were able to apprehend the suspect without incident.

The investigation remain ongoing.
