Here’s what Mitch Johnson and Devin Vassell had to say following the Spurs’ loss versus the Pelicans.
SAN ANTONIO — On their Rodeo Trip, the San Antonio Spurs lost to the New Orleans Pelicans 109-103. The Spurs are now 3-7 on the extended road trip.

Devin Vassell recorded 20 and five rebounds, and Jeremy Sochan added 12 and nine rebounds. Stephon Castle finished with four, and Julian Champagnie added two. Harrison Barnes recorded 15.
Victor Wembanyama will miss the remainder of the season due to deep vein thrombosis, and Charles Bassey did not play due to an ankle injury.
The Spurs are 24-32 this season and will take on the Rockets on Wednesday night.
Here’s a sample of what the teams said after the game.
Mitch Johnson:
“Our margin for error is just zero right now. So whether that’s making free throws, converting plays, when you turn them over and you have an advantage, executing a play, executing a defensive coverage, margin for error right now, and in this league, sometimes that can be the difference. The 48 minute game is long for us right now. We have to continue to challenge ourselves to lessen some of those mistakes.”
“It’s definitely a learning phase. We just got to be better. Though. We can’t turn the ball over as much as we did do. We got rebounded today. We got to take care of the ball. We got to move the ball on offense and just get good quality shots. We got to know when the other team is going on a run, what’s a good shot.”
Willie Green:
“Really proud of our guys hard to beat a team two games in a row, but that was a message to our group. It was, let’s see if we could step on the floor and do it again. Execute, try to be dominant with this, with the series.”
