SAN ANTONIO — Over 30 San Antonio Fire Department units rushed to a northeast-side apartment complex after flames broke out Tuesday night.
SAFD officials said crews arrived to the apartments located on the 3900 block of Barrington Street after 9:30 p.m. and quickly attacked the blaze.
Firefighters were able to quickly contain the flames to one to two apartment units and were working to put out hot spots.
Officials said there were no serious or life-threatening injuries but one person reportedly jumped from the second floor and was hospitalized for injuries sustained from the fall. Two others were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, according to SAFD.
“The first-in crews did a very good job keeping it contained,” said SAFD. “It looks like the fire was contained to one to two apartments out of eight, so we did a very good job. We killed power and gas to the building so all eight apartments are without power and gas right now. That’s why we’ll work with apartment management and Red Cross if need be.”
There were eight total apartments in the unit where the fire broke out and officials say it is unclear at this time how many were affected.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
This is a developing story.
