PG Nikola Topic avoids serious knee injury; Should be ready for NBA Draft

According to a report, Topic’s injury was not as bad as it seemed.

SAN ANTONIO — According to a report, Nikola Topic, a 2024 NBA Draft prospect, has avoided any serious injury to his left knee and will be ready for pre-NBA Draft activities.

This is great news for the 18-year-old, who is projected to be selected within the top 10 picks at the draft.

Topic suffered a non-contact injury to his left knee in Game 1 of the AdmiralBet ABA League Finals versus Partizan Mozzart Bet.

A video surfaced of the point guard needing to be helped off the court and into the locker room as he could not put any weight on the injured knee.

This is the same left knee that kept him out of action for nearly four months back in January.

The San Antonio Spurs own picks No. 4 and 8 at the upcoming NBA Draft 2024, and many project the team might be looking to add help at the point guard spot.

As stated, the good news is that the injury was not as severe; he is young, he will reportedly sit out of the Adriatic League Finals to heal and will participate in draft activities.

However, will his history of injuries force teams to pause when considering him a potential roster player? Will the Spurs use one of their top-10 picks on a teenager with a history of left knee issues?

In the EuroLeague with Mega Basket, he averaged 18.4 points, 7.1 assists, a steal, and 25.9% from the three-point line in 12 games played in the 2023-24 season. He is a dynamic, 6’6″ point guard with incredible passing ability and can put pressure on defense in the paint. His defense is sub-par, and his shooting ability can use work.
