SAN ANTONIO — While San Antonians spent their Tuesday night gazing upon mesmerizing lightning shows, Texans a few counties away in the Hill Country contended with dangerously large hail that rained down on their businesses and homes.
Del Rio got hit with large hail early on as storms entered West Texas early Tuesday evening.
About 110 miles away in Leakey, however, even bigger hail pummeled the community. Some reports showed that hail was reaching four inches in diameter or even the size of baseballs.
Also in Leakey, a nursery that’s been in business for more than 20 years saw its plants, pots and greenhouse wrecked by the large hail. Elsewhere in the community, Rhonda Hinote said she had returned home from Kerrville and had just enough time to put the cars away before large hail started pounding her property.
