Pink Dreams Vintage in Beacon Hill to be opened by young entrepreneur

A lifelong dream will come to fruition for one San Antonio resident when Pink Dreams Vintage opens its doors. The Beacon Hill shop will welcome folks from the neighborhood and vintage enthusiasts alike during its grand opening on Saturday, April 29.

Pinkie, who chose not to share her last name, has been interested in clothing her entire life and studied the craft during college, though she wasn’t a fan of fast fashion that focuses on disposable trends.

“That kind of piqued my interest in vintage, bringing back vintage clothing, upcycling, recycling, trading, just being more sustainable and thoughtful,” the Texas State University graduate says.

The San Marcos native got a job at a vintage shop in her hometown in 2016 and fully realized how to bring her interest and career together.

“Ever since then it’s been a clear pathway,” she says. “This is what I want to do.”

Pinkie started her business three years ago, beginning with selling items via eBay, Etsy, and other online retailers. She was eventually turned off by the fees that come with the platforms and not being able to connect with her customers. After a year, she started participating in pop-up markets, her first being Wimberley Market Days.

Now, Pinkie is set to debut Pink Dreams Vintage at 726 Fredericksburg Road, San Antonio, TX 78201, on the city’s Westside.

“I always knew I wanted my own store. I always knew I wanted it to be in San Antonio because I love the city so much,” says Pinkie, who moved to the Alamo City three years ago. “I love the culture here. I love the people that I’ve met. Everyone’s super genuine and down-to-earth.”

The shop’s location was truly meant to be, Pinkie says.

“I just instantly fell in love with it. I saw a lot of potential and pretty much pestered the landlord to let me rent it out and turn it into my dream shop,” she says, noting her vision for a historic building with high ceilings, wood floors, and big windows. “This spot is pretty ideal for me. It checks all those boxes.”

The space will also allow Pinkie to show off her different interests aside from fashion.

“Half the store is clothing, shoes, purses, accessories and the other half is antiques, a lot of glassware, lamps, retro TVs,” she says, noting that she stocks clothing pieces up to 4XL. “Another little passion of mine is plants. I have a green thumb so all of my windows in the front are filled with plants that are available for sale.”

Antiques and other timeless finds are available at Pink Dreams Vintage, located at 726 Fredericksburg Road.

The grand opening celebration for Pink Dreams Vintage will take place on Saturday, April 29, from noon to 7 p.m. Customers can look forward to refreshments, giveaways, and live music.

“I really want it to be a celebration and announcement to the community that I’m here and I’m ready to be a staple store for San Antonio,” she says.
