This happened early Sunday morning at Cafe Ole. The victim was identified as 43-year-old David Alvarado.
SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police have made an arrest in a shooting at a busy downtown restaurant that happened early Sunday.
Police arrived just after 1 a.m. to the Cafe Ole restaurant off the 500 block of River Walk to find a man with a gunshot wound. The violence unfolded after a night of St. Patrick’s day celebrations in the downtown area.
For some unknown reason, police say the suspect walked up to the victim and shot him in the head, killing him. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The suspect fled from the restaurant following the shooting.
On Sunday afternoon, arrest documents confirmed 20-year-old Talano Garcia had been taken into custody in connection to the deadly shooting. His bonds total $250,000.
Police say both the victim, identified as 43-year-old David Alvarado, and the suspect work at the restaurant.
No other injuries were reported in the shooting.
Cafe Ole provided a statement regarding the incident on Sunday:
“We experienced a recent event involving an altercation between two employees. It occurred in the back of the house and did not involve any customers or other employees. There is an active ongoing police investigation and we are fully cooperating with authorities. We are not at liberty to disclose any additional details at this time. This was an isolated incident and nothing similar has ever occurred in our 30+ year history. The safety of our customers and employees is of upmost importance. We are working with our staff to help them through this difficult period.”
