SAN ANTONIO — A man was hospitalized after San Antonio police said he was found with a gunshot wound to the chest on the city’s northeast side early Saturday morning.
According to SAPD, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ira Lee Road and Laurens Lane near Salado Creek for a welfare check. When police arrived, investigators said they discovered a man with a gunshot wound to the chest laying in the greenbelt area.
The 27-year-old man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Police said he was highly intoxicated and unable to provide a statement regarding the incident.
When family arrived at the scene, they advised officers that the man contacted them saying he was going to commit suicide—according to police.
Investigators said they located a firearm and multiple spent casings at the scene.
