MUSCATINE, Iowa — Muscatine police are grieving the loss of one of their own, K9 Officer Dexter.
Dex started working for the Muscatine Police Department in March 2022 and was a model officer alongside Officer Matt Wilkinson.
Dex had been dealing with medical issues for about a month and had been in the care of doctors as he tried to recover. Dex lost his battle and was laid to rest on Thursday, Feb. 8. Officer Wilkinson and his wife were by Dex’s side till the end.
Muscatine police say that Dex’s energy and enthusiasm for his work will be greatly missed.
