Police release new images of woman sought as person of interest in west-side murder

Detectives haven’t said how she may be connected, only that they want to speak with her.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are searching for a woman they’re now calling a person of interest in a west-side murder that remains unsolved nearly two weeks later.

Investigators released new surveillance photos showing a barefoot woman wearing blue shorts and a light-colored shirt. Detectives believe she may have information that could help them piece together what happened the morning 22-year-old Zachary Owens was killed.

The shooting happened around 4:20 a.m. on Nov. 8. Officers were first called to the 5600 block of Culebra Road for reports of shots fired. When they arrived, they found Owens dead on a sidewalk along the 1200 block of Mira Vista. Owens was identified by the Bexar County Medial Examiner.

Witnesses told police they saw a man running away from the scene, heading south across Culebra. The woman in the newly released images was reportedly seen walking in the same direction around that time.

Detectives haven’t said how she may be connected, only that they want to speak with her.

Anyone with information that could help police is urged to contact SAPD.
