Police respond to Pearsall standoff connected to disappearance of three young Indiana siblings

Police responded to a motel in the South Texas community and were still there hours later on Tuesday night.

SAN ANTONIO — Law enforcement converged on a motel in Pearsall, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon where they have been involved in an ongoing standoff with a barricaded suspect for hours.

The Frio County Sheriff’s Office told CBS News the response was connected to a case centered around three young children missing out of Indiana, but wouldn’t provide further specifics until a resolution was reached. The disappearances of Frankie, Queen and King Terrell prompted a Silver Alert in Indiana on Friday; police there believe the siblings, ranging in age from 1 to 4 years old, were taken by their noncustodial parents possibly en route to Mexico.

Pearsall is a city of about 8,800 residents and located about 55 miles southwest of San Antonio. Local police, as well as sheriff’s deputies and Texas troopers, could be seen outside the Rio Frio Motel, at West Comal and South Trevino streets.
