Police say intoxicated driver crashed near highway exit, injuring five passengers and herself

One passenger sustained life-threatening injuries and the other four passengers as well as the driver had serious injuries.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio Police say an intoxicated driver crashed her vehicle while trying to exit the highway, injuring herself and five other passengers, one critically.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. Sunday near the exit ramp of Loop 410 and Interstate-10.

Police say the 22-year-old female driver was allegedly speeding in a 2006 Blue Hyundai Sonata as she approached the Houston Street exit when she lost control and crashed near the exit.

The suspect, and five other passengers were taken to a local hospital to receive medical assistance. One of the passengers is facing life-threatening injuries. The other four were seriously injured in the crash.

Police say the suspect was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash and she was seriously injured.

This is still an ongoing investigation.
