Police say no bombs found at Walmart on southwest side after receiving ‘bomb threat’ phone call

The store had to be evacuated Tuesday night after police received the threatening phone call.

SAN ANTONIO — A southwest-side Walmart was evacuated Tuesday night after a man called police claiming he had placed multiple explosive devices inside the store, according to San Antonio police.

The incident happened around 9:43 p.m. at the Walmart located in the 7200 block of SW Loop 410. Dispatchers received a call from a man—described only as a Hispanic male—who said he had three bombs inside the building and demanded money.

San Antonio police officers responded immediately, clearing the store and conducting a full search. Two sweeps were completed, and officers implemented a mandatory wait period to ensure no devices were present.

No bombs or suspicious items were found, and the store was later reopened.

The suspect has not been identified, and investigators are working to determine who made the threatening call. SAPD says the case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
