The woman sustained cuts to her head and upper body, police say.
SAN ANTONIO — Police say a woman suffered cuts to her head and upper when a fight broke out between her and her ex-husband at a gas station.
SAPD were dispatched to the 7400 block of West Military Drive around 12:19 a.m. Sunday for reports of a cutting in progress.
When officers arrived, they found a 32-year-old woman with injuries to her head and upper extremities.
Police say the 37-year-old suspect had fled the location before they arrived, but officers were able to locate him and apprehend him quickly.
The woman told police that the two have previously been married.
Officers say the two were in the car when a fight broke out. The woman pulled into a gas station and the two began struggling in the vehicle. She told police that she got out of the vehicle and tried to run off, because she was scared.
The man chased her and began to physically assault her, police say. He then returned to the vehicle and retrieved a glass bottle of alcohol and began to hit her on the head, causing a visible laceration.
The woman was treated for her injuries at the scene by SAFD, and the man was taken into custody by police.
This is still an active investigation with information subject to change.
