Police searching for driver who hit woman, did not stop

The woman suffered a broken leg that officials said was serious, but not life-threatening.

SAN ANTONIO — Police are looking for a driver who hit a woman on the east side late Monday night, and never stopped.

San Antonio Police officers responded to the 4600 block of Rigsby Avenue near S WW White Road around 9:45 p.m. for reports of a hit and run incident.

When officers arrived at the location, they found a woman in her 30s lying in the street with a broken leg. She was taken to BAMC with a broken femur, in serious but not life-threatening condition.

Police say she was walking in the road when she was hit. That driver did not stop and drove away immediately in an unknown direction after they hit her. Officials found parts of the vehicle in the roadway.

The sergeant at the scene said that witnesses found the woman in the street but did not see the initial impact.

Police do not have a description of the vehicle.

The scene remains under investigation.
