Police searching for driver who left behind unique piece of evidence after deadly hit-and-run in San Marcos

SAN MARCOS, Texas — Police are searching for a driver involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash in San Marcos on Saturday night.

The San Marcos Police Department said at approximately 10:45 p.m. on May 3, officers responded to the crash in the 4200 block of State Highway 123, just south of Skylark Lane.

A man was found dead in the southbound lanes.

Investigators believe the man was struck by two vehicles. The second vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating, but the original vehicle has not been located.

The suspect vehicle is described as an early 2000s model white Ford pickup. The right-side mirror was left behind at the scene and features a unique, custom-painted rose.
