Police searching for suspect who stabbed man multiple times west of downtown

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

SAN ANTONIO — A man was stabbed multiple times near an intersection west of downtown late Saturday night, police say.

San Antonio Police were called out to Commerce Street at North Frio Street around 10:15 p.m. for reports of a stabbing in progress.

When officers arrived they found the 30-year-old victim on the ground with several stab wounds.

According to witnesses at the scene, the man was lying down asleep next to his fiancé when the suspect walked up to him and stabbed him, then ran off down Commerce Street.

Police could not find the suspect and say it’s unclear what caused the suspect to stab the victim. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

No more information was available.

This is a developing story.
