Police working to remove suspected squatters seen on security cameras inside vacant home

SAPD says officers responded to a report from an out-of-town homeowner who observed people at the vacant home through security cameras.

SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are at the scene of what they say is being treated as a burglary in process at a home on the city’s west side.

Police say officers arrived at the home on the 9600 block of Gold Hill Drive at around 8:40 a.m. Thursday morning after they received a call from an out-of-town homeowner who observed people at the vacant home through security cameras.

Officers were able to get one woman to come out of the home without resistance but say they believe one more person is still inside, ignoring commands from officers to exit the home.

At this time, police say they are not sure whether this is a squatter situation but they are treating it as a burglary in process with a barricaded subject.

Police are awaiting follow-up and SWAT teams to arrive at the scene. It is unknown if the person inside the home has a weapon.

This is a developing story.
