SAN ANTONIO — A young boy under 10 years old was taken to University Hospital on Monday afternoon after police say an elderly driver ran over him in west San Antonio.
According to a San Antonio police sergeant on the scene in the 400 block of Amires Place, the boy was riding a toy car into the street when an elderly man coming down the street in a red truck hit him. According to SAPD, the driver says he didn’t see the young boy.
“He thinks he was going about 25 mph, he says he wasn’t going to fast,” the sergeant said, adding the driver wasn’t intoxicated. “We don’t know the condition of the boy yet.”
The exact age of the child hasn’t been identified as of yet. It’s also unknown at this point if the driver could face charges.
This is a developing story.
