Polo returns to Brackenridge Park for third annual ‘Polo in the Park’ event

The Brackenridge Park Conservancy will host its third annual Polo in the Park on March 22, bringing a historic sport back to the park with a free community event.

SAN ANTONIO — Polo is returning to one of San Antonio’s most historic parks later this month.

The Brackenridge Park Conservancy will host its third annual Polo in the Park event on Sunday, March 22, at the historic polo field inside Brackenridge Park.

The event, held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., will feature an exhibition match organized with the San Antonio Polo Club and First Tee – Greater San Antonio.

Organizers say the match celebrates a long-standing tradition in the park. Polo was played regularly at Brackenridge Park from the 1930s through the early 1980s and returned in 2024 during the park’s 125th anniversary celebration.

This year’s event will include a polo exhibition featuring legacy polo families, live music, memorabilia and style competitions like a hat contest and best-dressed showcase.

General admission is free, and food trucks will be available on site. Organizers say guests are encouraged to wear classic equestrian-inspired outfits, including statement hats, sundresses and tailored blazers.

A limited number of VIP viewing tents with catering will also be available for reservation.

The event will take place at First Tee – Greater San Antonio, located at 915 E. Mulberry Ave. in Brackenridge Park.
