Popular brunch spot, whiskey bar closing in River Oaks District

No more Fruity Pebbles French toast or donut burgers. Bosscat Kitchen and Libations on Westheimer is closing.

HOUSTON — Another Houston restaurant and bar is closing.

Bosscat Kitchen & Libations will close its first Houston location at the end of the month, but the team’s remaining concepts will continue operating.

The whiskey bar and restaurant on Westheimer will serve its final brunch and dinner on Sept. 28. 

It will operate as a private event space through the end of 2025, according to a Sept. 10 press release.

The Daily Dose Hospitality, Bosscat’s parent company, decided not to renew the lease for the location between River Oaks District and Highland Village.

“It was time to reassess, and when looking at another 10 years at this location, we made the decision to consolidate our portfolio and focus on potential new opportunities for our brand in and around Houston,” JT Reed, co-founder of Bosscat Kitchen & Libations, said in the release.

The Bosscat concept originated in Newport Beach, California, and the Westheimer location opened on Feb. 22, 2017. Since then, the Houston restaurant became known for its weekend brunch — featuring dishes such as the Fruity Pebble French Toast and the popular Donut Burger. They also offer more than 240 different whiskies all housed in a glass-enclosed Whiskey Room.
