Officials say no person or office has been linked to the alleged smell on the fourth floor. An internal probe is underway.
SAN ANTONIO — The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office confirmed it is investigating an allegation of a suspicious odor reported on the fourth floor of the Bexar County Justice Center, where its offices are located.
The probe comes after an allegation that an employee was seen by coworkers smoking marijuana in the office.
The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office also confirmed it is looking into the matter.
The fourth floor of the downtown Justice Center is open to the public, though many areas within the prosecutor’s office are secured behind locked doors.
KENS 5 inquired about a possible investigation after receiving an anonymous tip alleging that someone inside the office was caught by coworkers “smoking weed … and the entire division smelled it.”
In an emailed response, the district attorney’s office said Wednesday that its administration was informed of a possible odor and that an internal investigation is underway. On Thursday, officials with BCSO added that a K-9 deputy conducted a sweep of the facility and “did not alert to the presence of any suspected narcotics.”
Officials said that, at this time, no individual or specific space has been linked to the odor or to drug possession.
The office said it will thoroughly investigate the matter and take appropriate action based on its findings.
