Poteet City Council moves to oust police chief, others after critical review of police department

The individuals have been placed on administrative suspension pending the completion of the city’s internal pre-disciplinary review process.

SAN ANTONIO — The Poteet City Council took action against the city’s police department Tuesday, following results from a critical review, according to the city administrator.

During a routine meeting, the city council recommended to terminate the employment of multiple members of the Poteet Police Department, including Chief of Police Bruce Hickman and an unidentified investigator.

The decision comes after performance issues within the department and the results of an audit conducted by Clear Career Professionals, which recommended significant leadership changes be made to Poteet PD.

Each person that was affected by the vote was placed on administrative suspension pending the completion of the city’s internal pre-disciplinary review process.

No other information was provided.

This is a developing story.
