“SAPD said there are no other persons of interest in this case, and this case is now being filed as pending,” said Pam Allen.
SAN ANTONIO — Four years after 3-year-old Lina Sardar Khil vanished from a northwest-side apartment complex, her family and supporters gathered Saturday evening to honor her and renew calls for answers in a case that remains unsolved.
Lina disappeared Dec. 20, 2021, from a playground at the Villas del Cabo Apartments, now known as the Vive Apartments.
She was last seen playing outside when her family realized she was missing and alerted authorities, launching a massive search that drew local, state and federal law enforcement.
At Saturday’s observance, Lina’s father, Riaz, spoke briefly, thanking the community for continued support and asking for prayers as the family continues to hope for answers.
“Too many minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years have passed since this family has held on to their loved one,” said Pam Allen, founder of the nonprofit Eagle’s Flight San Antonio, which has supported Lina’s family since her disappearance.
Allen said she and Lina’s father met earlier this week with the San Antonio Police Department and the FBI after communication with investigators had largely stopped following February 2024.
Allen said authorities shared new details during the meeting, including information about a man who had been considered a person of interest.
According to Allen, the man lived at the same apartment complex when Lina disappeared, has a past history of child sexual abuse charges, and is currently in jail.
Police told the family there are no other persons of interest at this time.
Investigators also discussed previous search efforts that had not been publicly disclosed, Allen said. She said authorities told them there were three additional extensive searches involving SAPD, the FBI, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, the district attorney’s office and the medical examiner’s office.
In February 2024, police followed up on a tip that suggested Lina’s remains might be in a wooded area off Gardendale Road, not far from where she was last seen. That tip was later determined to be not credible.
Allen said police informed the family that the case is now classified as “pending.”
Despite the passage of time, Lina’s father said the family has not given up.
“They have not forgotten about her,” Lina’s Father said “Pray for Lina, to help us find her.” adding that the family remains committed to seeking answers about Lina’s disappearance.
Anyone with information about Lina Sardar Khil’s disappearance is urged to contact the San Antonio Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit or Crime Stoppers.
