Prescribed burns at Camp Bullis causes haze in San Antonio

Some San Antonio residents may be noticing a haze in the air or fire in the distance as the Bureau of Land Management conducts prescribed burns at Joint Base Camp Bullis on the Northside, specifically around Stone Oak, on Tuesday, January 9. The conditions causing smoke may be exacerbated as the area was under a wind advisory for part of the day.

The prescribed fires are expected to continue over the next two to three days, Joint Base San Antonio Fire Department Station 7’s Omar Perez said to MySA.

The National Weather Service is forecasting wind gusts up to 25 miles per hour on Wednesday, January 10, and gusts between 5 and 10 miles per hour on Thursday, January 11. On Friday, January 12, NWS predicts gusts up to 50 miles per hour during the day.
