President Donald Trump is expected to visit Corpus Christi this week. Nueces County leaders say the trip could bring attention to water, defense and port needs.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — President Donald Trump is expected to visit Corpus Christi sometime this week, according to a report from The Texas Tribune.
Nueces County Judge Connie Scott talked to 3NEWS on Monday about the preparations that go into hosting a visit from a sitting president, saying it presents an opportunity to highlight key priorities across the Coastal Bend.
“I think anytime you have someone of that level of importance come to our community, no matter which party you’re from, that’s the President of the United States,” Scott said. “We have an opportunity to highlight those things when he’s here and to show him the importance of this community.”
Scott said a Presidential visit could draw attention to several local assets, including the Port of Corpus Christi, water infrastructure projects and defense-related facilities such as Corpus Christi Army Depot.
“I have no idea what he is coming for,” Scott said. “Whether it’s for our bases, whether it’s the CCAD and the Depot that we’ve all been talking about, who knows, but we have an opportunity to highlight those things when he’s here.”
This will not be Trump’s first visit to Corpus Christi. In October 2022, he held a rally at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown. He also visited the Coastal Bend in 2017 following Hurricane Harvey.
