‘Pretty (expletive) cool’ | Texans kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn talks about the record he set on Sunday against the Bills

Fairbairn became the all-time leading scorer for the Texans with the second of his three field goals, as Houston won 23-20.

HOUSTON — Sunday was a very good day for Houston Texans’ kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn.

Fairbairn hit the 59-yard game-winning walk-off field goal to lift Houston Texans to a 23-20 win over the Buffalo Bills at NRG Stadium. He also became the team’s all-time leading scorer.

“We talked about it, playing complementary football, everybody relying on each other. Each phase, special teams, defense, offense, when we needed it most,” head coach DeMeco Ryans said in his postgame speech, which was posted to the Texans X account.

Then he turned his attention to Fairbairn.

“Texans all-time leading scorer,” Ryans said as he tossed the game ball to Fairbairn. “Awesome job!”

Fairbairn then gave his own speech.

You can see the locker room speeches below.

“I enjoy coming to work today, every day with you guys,” Fairbairn said. “(Holder Jon) Weeks has been there every step of the way with the points, so I appreciate you. A stat like that is pretty (expletive) cool. Honestly, I’m proud of that one.  It wouldn’t be possible without all you guys, man. So for real, thank you guys.”

Fairbairn now has 773 points scored with the Texans. He passed the previous mark set by former Texans kicker Kris Brown. Sunday, Fairbairn was three of three on his field goals and added two extra points for 11 total points against Buffalo.

It was a big game for receiver Stefon Diggs, too, who also addressed the team in the locker room. Diggs came to Houston in the offseason from Buffalo.

“Y’all know how much that meant to me,” Diggs said. “I appreciate y’all. I love y’all.  But the biggest thing.  We’ve got to get back to work.”
