Prize pig helps Medina Valley freshman earn title of Grand Champion at San Antonio Livestock Show

Wyatt Ducos has also earned a $10,000 scholarship for winning Champion Dark Cross Market Hog Breed, according to the district.

SAN ANTONIO — A Medina Valley High School student can now add “grand champion” to his resume.

The district has announced that MVHS freshman Wyatt Ducos won the title of San Antonio Livestock Show Grand Champion Market Barrow with his award-winning pig.

Wyatt has been feeding and working with his pig since August to compete at the rodeo, and that hard work has turned into an elusive title along with a $10,000 scholarship.

“Wyatt’s pig was selected as the San Antonio Livestock Show Grand Champion Market Barrow out of thousands of show swine! Wyatt has also earned a $10,000 scholarship for winning Champion Dark Cross Market Hog Breed. Congratulations on this huge accomplishment, Wyatt!” said Kyla Williamson, MVHS Agriculture Science Teacher & FFA Advisor.

Wyatt has the chance wo win over $75,000 during auction to help in furthering his education and future swine projects.
