Protestors in Dilley demand release of 5-year-old Liam Ramos and father from ICE facility

Liam and his father were taken into ice custody in Minnesota then transferred to the detention center in Dilley.

SAN ANTONIO — Anti-ICE protestors gathered in Dilley Wednesday to demand the release of a boy and his father who were taken by ICE in Minnesota.

They’re now being held alongside other migrant families at a federal facility in Dilley.

Dozens of people are marching their way to the ICE facility in Dilley. It’s been a peaceful demonstration and there is extra police presence in the area.

Demonstrators say they’re standing in solidarity with the detained migrants including 5-year-old Liam Ramos and his father. They’re demanding their release alongside other detained migrants.

People came from all around South Texas including San Antonio, New Braunfels, San Marcos and elsewhere.

Liam and his father were taken into ice custody in Minnesota then transferred to the detention center in Dilley.

Over the weekend, detained migrants including children protested Liam’s capture and overall treatment by federal law enforcement when it comes to immigration enforcement. They held signs and chanted “libertad,” or freedom now.

Representatives Joaquin Castro and Jasmine Crockett toured the facility and met with Liam and his father.

Wednesday afternoon in San Antonio, there will be a press conference where political and community leaders will come together demanding Liam and his father be released.
