Texas Tech grad and mother of three daughters, Misty Spears has served as the Director of Constituent Services for Bexar County Commissioner Grant Moody for the past two years.

According to her campaign, Spears says she envisions a “back-to-basics” approach if elected, focused on issues including public safety, property taxes, government spending, economic growth, infrastructure and addressing homelessness.

Facing off against Spears is Angi Taylor Aramburu, a graduate of Purdue University and small business owner.

Aramburu ran in 2022 as the Democratic nominee for Texas House of Representatives District 122, losing to Mark Dorazio.

She has served on the Mayor’s Fitness Council for eight years where she now serves as Communications Co-Chair. According to her campaign, Aramburu is a staunch advocate for public education, currently serving on the NEISD Efficiency Committee.

Aramburu’s campaign website lists her top priorities including neighborhood and road safety, economic development, protection and development of city parks, supporting small businesses and increasing police patrols.
