The five-time Grammy winner is heading to more North American cities as part of an expanded tour this fall.
SAN ANTONIO — Rap fans in the Alamo City will want to clear their schedules in October: That’s when influential rapper and hip-hop artist Lil Wayne is set to bring his beats to the Frost Bank Center.
The five-time Grammy winner announced the Oct. 17 stop in San Antonio as part of an extended North American tour, with a new August concert schedule in Fort Worth also announced. Lil Wayne shot to superstardom with his “Tha Carter” albums that started releasing in the 2000s; four of the six albums in that series peaked a No. 1 or No. 2 on the U.S. charts.
Nine of his albums in all have been certified platinum.
A 28-time Grammy nominee, Lil Wayne has won five trophies, most recently the 2017 award for Best Rap Performance for “No Problem.” His “Tha Carter III” won Best Rap Album in 2009.
Tickets for the San Antonio show go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. CT at either Ticketmaster or the Frost Bank Center’s website.
