Here’s your weekly traffic alert as part of the ongoing Loop 1604 North Expansion Project.
SAN ANTONIO — The seasons may have changed this week, but some things stay the same—temperatures in the 90s, anticipation for the upcoming Spurs season… and Loop 1604 closures.
Yes, the weekend will bring more headaches for San Antonio drivers trying to navigate certain stretches of the highway amid the ongoing $1.4 billion TxDOT project to expand it from four lanes to 10 across the north side. Three areas in particular will feature orange barrels and detours at various points this weekend.
Here’s the rundown so you aren’t late to the mall, movies, brunch or other weekend plans.
Between Highway 16 and Interstate 10
The following closures are scheduled for this weekend, from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Sunday:
- Loop 1604 West to Loop 1604 East turnaround at Bandera Road
- Southbound Bandera Road lanes to Loop 1604 East frontage road
- Left lane of Loop 1604 Eastbound frontage road from Bandera to Quincey Lee Drive
Loop 1604 and Interstate 10
The following nightly closures are scheduled for this weekend, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each day from Friday through Monday:
- Loop 1604 East main lanes from Chase Hill Boulevard exit ramp to La Cantera Parkway entrance ramp
- Right main lane of Loop 1604 East at the I-10 interchange
- Loop 1604 East frontage road east of the I-10 interchange
- Loop 1604 West frontage road at the I-10 interchange
- Most main lanes of Interstate 10 in both directions at Loop 1604 interchange (one lane open in both directions)
- I-10 East frontage road from Via La Cantera to Loop 1604
- I-10 East to Loop 1604 East cloverleaf
Loop 1604 and Interstate 10
The following nightly closures are scheduled for this weekend in the same area, but during the day from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday:
- Loop 1604 East main lanes from Chase Hill Boulevard exit ramp to La Cantera Parkway entrance ramp
- Right main lane of Loop 1604 Eastbound at the I-10 interchange
- Loop 1604 East frontage road east of the I-10 interchange
- Loop 1604 West frontage road at the I-10 interchange
- I-10 East to Loop 1604 East cloverleaf
