BOERNE, Texas — A recovery mission is in place as an 80-year-old man drowned at Boerne City Lake Sunday afternoon, according to My Boerne News.
Officials were called to the lake just after 2:30 p.m. Witnesses say the man went under the surface and began struggling in the water. People near the lake tried to help the man, but were unsuccessful, according to officials.
The Boerne FD rescue team, Boerne PD and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department all responded to the scene.
Patrons were asked to leave the area out of precaution and to allow officials to work the scene. The lake has been closed until further notice.
Officials now say this is a recovery mission as Boerne FD is sweeping the lake trying to find the man.
