SAN ANTONIO — KENS 5 spent some time in Kerrville Tuesday to see what was happening with donations.
They can continue to flow into local churches like Notre Dame Catholic Church and the First United Methodist Church in Kerrville, but the Red Cross tells us that they are exceeding capacity with in-kind donations such as water, food, toiletries and clothing and now asking for monetary donations to help pay for expenses including funeral costs and even home repairs.
The Red Cross tells KENS 5 that they are encouraging those who would like to donate to visit their website.
We also stopped by Schreiner University where they are no longer as shelter status, but now housing first responders, linemen and search and rescue teams.
The Schreiner University president put out a statement today where he said, “We have been and continue to house first responders and other support groups who are working around the clock to provide help to our community. Some came with nothing, so we put together simple care packages that were donated to Schreiner just to make sure they had what they needed to get started.”
