SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio man with a history of violent sexual offenses has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after violating the state’s sex offender registration requirements, Bexar County officials announced this week.
Judge Michael Mery of the 144th District Court handed down the sentence to Sean Harper, a convicted habitual sexual offender with prior convictions for Sexual Assault of a Child, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Possession of a Prohibited Firearm.
According to court records, Harper failed to comply with mandatory registration rules while on supervision for previous offenses. The violation drew renewed attention to Harper’s criminal history, including a November 2023 assault, when prosecutors say he broke into a teenage girl’s bedroom, sexually assaulted her, and fled through a window. The victim later identified Harper in a photo lineup, leading to his arrest.
Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales praised the victim’s courage in helping secure the conviction.
“We commend the victim’s courage in coming forward and sharing her story,” Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales said. “It is because of her bravery that we can provide her with a measure of closure and ensure our community is safer as a result.”
