SAN ANTONIO — According to a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the San Antonio Spurs have agreed to terms with Dallas assistant coach Sean Sweeney to become the team’s associate assistant coach alongside new head coach Mitch Johnson.
Sweeney served as an assistant coach with the Pistons and Milwaukee before joining the Mavericks. With the Nets, he served as video coordinator before being named assistant coach for the 2013-14 season.
He has been with Dallas since 2021. He also interviewed for the Suns’ head coaching position before landing in San Antonio, according to ESPN.
He is known for his incredible player development coaching and was Giannis Antetokounmpo’s preferred player development coach with the Bucks. That should parlay into his future work with Victor Wembanyama, whom Johnson served last season.
