Report: Spurs fan favorite Sandro Mamukelashvili to sign with the Raptors

Mamukelashvili, whose 34-point outburst in March proved to be a highlight performance of the season, has reportedly signed a two-year deal with Toronto.

SAN ANTONIO — According to a report via ESPN’s Shams Charania, San Antonio Spurs free agent and fan-favorite Sandro Mamukelashvili is set to join the Toronto Raptors.

Mamu has reportedly agreed to a two-year, $5.5 million deal with the Raptors, plus a second-year player option.

When the Spurs reportedly signed free agent Luke Kornet to a four-year deal on Monday, it signaled the team was moving on from Mamu.

The big man played well for the Spurs whenever he got time on the court, thanks to his hustle, energy, positive locker room presence and 3-point shooting. He even received his own San Antonio mural.

Last season, he single-handedly brought the fans at the Frost Bank Center to their feet with an incredible career-scoring night with 34 points, and with his friend, musician Flavor Flav, in the arena.
