
Tony Parker Sr., has died suddenly at 70, prompting an investigation.
SAN ANTONIO — According to French media reports, Tony Parker Sr., father of San Antonio Spurs great Tony Parker, has passed away suddenly at 70 years old.
Tony Parker Sr., father of former French basketball players Tony Parker, TJ Parker, and Pierre Parker, was found dead Sunday evening at Tony’s home at the age of 70,” via a statement by Tony Parker via French outlet BFM RMC Sport.
“A former basketball player and deeply loved figure, Tony Parker Sr., (…) passed on (to his family) his passion for basketball, his strength of character and his human values, those which shaped the man and the athlete that Tony became.”
The report also states his death was “sudden” and according to the Lyon prosecutor’s office, an investigation to determine the cause of death is open and his body was found Sunday evening at Parker’s home.
“This departure leaves a huge void,” said Parker in a release.
Parker Sr., played basketball at Loyola University Chicago from 1973 to 1977 before turning professional overseas.
