HOUSTON — Derek Stingley Jr. of the Houston Texans is one of the top defensive backs in the NFL, and now he’s reportedly the highest-paid one.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network and Adam Schefter of ESPN both reported it Monday morning. They stated the deal is a three-year, $90 million extension, including $89 million guaranteed.
The next highest-paid DB is Carolina’s Jaycee Horn at $25 million a year and then Miami’s Jalen Ramsey at $24.1 million a year, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Stingley was a first-round pick by the Texans out of LSU in 2022 and the third overall pick.
He played in all 17 games for the Texans last season after injuries shortened his first two. In 2024, Stingley had five interceptions and 37 solo tackles.
His dominant season earned him First-Team All-Pro honors.
