Reports: Texans, Nick Chubb agree to 1-year deal worth up to $5 million

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Chubb’s 1-year deal has a base salary of $2.5 million and can be worth up to $5 million.

HOUSTON — The Houston Texans’ backfield got a boost with the signing of veteran running back Nick Chubb, the team announced Tuesday.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Chubb’s one-year deal has a base salary of $2.5 million and can be worth up to $5 million.

Chubb, a four-time Pro Bowler, will team up with Joe Mixon to give Houston a powerful 1-2 punch at running back.

For his career, all with the Cleveland Browns, Chubb has 6,843 yards rushing and 51 touchdowns on 1,340 attempts.

In a video posted to the Texans’ social media, Chubb said he’s excited to get to work in H-Town.

Chubb is a receiving threat, too, having caught 128 passes for more than 1,000 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Chubb’s biggest year running the ball came in 2022 when he rushed for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns. The next year, he suffered a season-ending knee injury during the second game of the season against Pittsburgh. He played in eight games in 2024, rushing for 332 yards on 102 carries before a broken foot ended that season.

Chubb was a second-round pick out of the University of Georgia in 2018.

He became an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
