Authorities say a homeowner’s Ring camera alert helped deputies quickly arrest a burglary suspect early Sunday morning in Crystal City.
A homeowner’s quick call to authorities and a home security camera helped deputies stop a burglary in progress early Sunday morning in Crystal City.
According to the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called around 3 a.m. Sunday to a home along North U.S. Highway 83 after a resident noticed suspicious activity on her Ring camera.
Deputy Jesus Jimenez Jr. and Sgt. Victor Alvizo arrived within minutes and began checking the property.
While canvassing the area, deputies say Jimenez intercepted a man attempting to leave with a 5-gallon bucket.
Investigators say the bucket was filled with items that did not belong to the suspect, including electronics, personal mail and keys to a zero-turn tractor that had been taken from a secured shed.
Authorities arrested Gilbert Cisneros, 42, who now faces charges of burglary of a building, criminal mischief and theft.
Officials say the case highlights how quickly reporting suspicious activity can help stop crimes in progress.
Deputies thanked the homeowner for quickly reporting what she saw, saying the call allowed them to respond quickly and recover the stolen property.
