SAN ANTONIO — A road rage incident escalated into a shooting Wednesday night on the city’s northwest side, police say.

The incident started along USAA Boulevard near Fredericksburg Road around 7:45 p.m. The vehicles involved ended up along Gus Eckhert Road and Cinnamon Hill in the Medical Center.

A 20-year-old man told police he was driving when a tan or gold Chevy sedan cut him off and brake-checked him. A short time later, the two drivers ended up next to each other and that is when a shot was fired. The man was hit in the thigh area, but police say the driver who shot him took off.

The driver who was shot drove to another area to call police. He is expected to recover.

If you have any information about this incident, you are asked to call police.

This is an ongoing investigation.
